The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has firmly cleared the air on rumors swirling about David Mark resigning as National Chairman. Party spokespersons dismissed the claims as baseless misinformation aimed at destabilizing leadership.

In an official statement, ADC emphasized Mark’s unwavering commitment to steering the party toward national prominence.

Sources confirm no internal crisis exists, urging members to disregard unverified social media speculations.

    About David Mark

David Alechenu Bonaventure Mark GCON is a retired Nigerian army brigadier general and politician.

He served as the 12th president of the Nigerian Senate from 2007 to 2015 and was the Senator for Benue South senatorial district from 1999 to 2019.

He is a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which he left in 2025 to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and become its interim National Chairman.

Prior to his senatorial career, Mark was the military Governor of Niger State from 1984 to 1986, and is a one-time minister of communication.

ADC Clarification Reinforces Unity in Fluid Politics

This clarification reinforces ADC’s unity amid Nigeria’s fluid political scene.

As opposition grows, the party focuses on expansion, with Mark leading efforts to consolidate gains ahead of upcoming elections.

The party described the claims as false and misleading.

In a statement issued by the National Chairman’s Media Office, the reports were dismissed as “an insidious fabrication” orchestrated by “puerile, weak and inconsiderate propagandists”.

Mark Remains ADC Chairman, No Resignation Plans

The statement maintained that Mark remains the substantive National Chairman of the party, stressing that there is no plan or discussion regarding his resignation.

“The assertion that Senator David Mark has stepped down exists only in the warped imagination of those bent on spreading falsehood and creating confusion within our party,” the statement said.

ADC’s statement further noted the party’s leadership remains solidly united under David Mark.

This cohesion counters divisive rumors, showcasing resolve amid Nigeria’s competitive political environment and internal stability.

Leaders reaffirmed commitment to strengthening democratic principles nationwide.

ADC Pledges Reforms on Economy, Security, Youth

They pledge transparent governance, voter education, and policy reforms to address key challenges like economy, security, and youth empowerment.

ADC vows to offer credible leadership to Nigerians, positioning itself as a viable alternative.

With grassroots mobilization intensifying, the party eyes broader appeal ahead of pivotal electoral contests.

The statement warned against attempts to destabilise the ADC, attributing such efforts to fears over the party’s rising influence and evolving political dynamics ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The ADC, its leadership, and the majority of Nigerians are unbending in their collective determination to resist any plot aimed at undermining Nigeria’s multi-party democracy or imposing a one-party system,” the statement added.

ADC urged Nigerians to ignore baseless rumors about leadership changes.

ADC Slams Misinfo Aiming to Sow Discord

The party stressed that such misinformation aims to sow discord, but internal structures remain rock-solid and focused.

Spokespersons assured the public of unwavering stability in ADC’s leadership under David Mark.

This unity drives the party’s mission to deliver progressive governance and national renewal for all citizens.

Members and supporters are encouraged to stay assured, countering fake news with facts.

ADC’s commitment to transparency reinforces trust, positioning it strongly in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
