Nigerian disc jockey and record producer, DJ Neptune, has issued a stark warning about Artificial Intelligence’s rapid rise in music creation, echoing concerns from N6.

He predicts AI tools will soon master beat-making, melody generation, and mixing with unmatched speed, potentially sidelining human producers entirely from studios.

DJ Neptune: Train in AI or Retire, Producers Warned

Urging industry adaptation, DJ Neptune stresses training in AI integration to survive, as unchecked advancement could “retire” traditional music producers overnight.

The entertainer made the remark while reacting to a similar concern raised by media personality N6 on social media.

Reports reveals that N6 had earlier taken to 𝕏, formerly Twitter, to express fears about the growing capabilities of AI in music production and mastering.

“AI is quietly about to retire the entire music production and mastering industry.

I have seen scary tinz tonight. God help all of us in this ecosystem,” he wrote.

DJ Neptune Mistook AI Track for Human-Produced Hit

Corroborating N6’s fears, DJ Neptune recounted a jaw-dropping moment when he stumbled upon an AI-generated track online.

It was initially convinced that it was crafted by a top human producer.

The song’s flawless beats, layered vocals, and catchy hooks mimicked industry heavyweights so perfectly that he replayed it multiple times, praising its “genius” before discovering its robotic origins.

This eye-opening experience solidified his warning.

AI’s uncanny realism will soon blur lines, forcing music producers to evolve or face obsolescence in the industry.

“I dey tell you. Someone sent me a record to listen to some days ago and give me my feedback,” he said.

“After listening, I told the guy to sign the artist cos what I heard was out of this world.

That’s how my guy said na AI work. E shook me o.”

21st-Century AI Revolutionizes Healthcare, Finance, Entertainment Workflows

In the 21st century, AI adoption surges across sectors like healthcare, finance, and entertainment, revolutionizing workflows with automation and predictive analytics for unprecedented efficiency gains.

Within music, emerging artists use AI platforms like Suno and Udio to generate full tracks instantly.

Bypassing traditional studio costs and time-intensive production hurdles.

Established producers and sound engineers leverage tools such as LANDR for mastering.

Auto-Tune AI for vocals, and Beatoven for beats, elevating sound quality while sparking debates on creativity.

AI’s Rise Sparks Creativity, Job Security Debates in Music

The growing use of AI has sparked conversations about its long-term impact on creativity and job security within the industry.

Responding to AI’s boom, the Recording Academy revised Grammy eligibility rules in 2024.

Permitting songs with AI-generated elements to compete if humans provide substantial creative control.

Key criteria demand “significant human input” in composition, performance, or production, ensuring AI serves as a tool rather than replacing artistic authorship entirely.

This progressive shift aims to future-proof awards amid tech evolution, balancing innovation with tradition while sparking debates on authenticity in music recognition.
