The Akwa Ibom State Government has claimed on June 2, 2025 that Mrs. Jane Eddidiong Ufot, Senior Special Adviser to Governor Umo Eno, was influenced by “false prophet” to share a viral video accusing her father of involvement in her mother’s death.
According to report, the government described the video as an emotional outburst from a grieving daughter misled by others on June 2.
Umanah: Video Shows Jane’s Grief, No Governor Acusation
Commissioner for Information Aniekan Umanah said the video reflected Jane’s pain and was not a direct accusation against the governor but a manipulation of false prophet.
He condemned those spreading the video for using the family’s private tragedy for political attacks.
Governor Umo Eno confirmed the video was recorded shortly after his wife’s death in 2024 and called its resurfacing a political ploy.
He urged the public to respect his family’s privacy and focus on the state’s development under his leadership.

Jane Misled By False Prophets
The government insists that Jane was manipulated by “false prophet” and misled into making the statements during a moment of deep grief and emotional distress.
Commissioner Aniekan Umanah called video Jane Ufot’s emotional outpouring, influenced by misleading figures blaming politics for mother’s death.
“The child was simply seeking attention and reassurance from her father during a time of deep grief,” Umanah said.”
“The video was a moment of emotional outpouring, not an accusation against the Governor.”
Umanah said video showed grieving Jane’s pain and confusion, not direct accusation against Governor Umo Eno.
Umanah said video resurfaced as political move to discredit Governor Eno and distract from ARISE Agenda progress.
Controversy started when Jane tearfully begged her father to intervene, warning, “I’m not a sacrifice, this thing destroys.”
“Mummy was, I’m not. I give you a few minutes, if you don’t work; I’ve posted this thing everywhere.”
Video Went Viral Fast

“We’re in political times, so you expect more of this,” the Governor said.
“My family is intact you can see everyone here.
The video in question was recorded shortly after my wife passed away last year.
So why is it resurfacing now, just as we’re marking our second anniversary and celebrating our achievements?
“It only confirms there are detractors.”
Governor Eno appealed to the public to respect his family’s privacy and allow his late wife’s soul to rest in peace.
Governor Eno emphasized commitment to Akwa Ibom people, refuses distraction by political mischief.
“I wouldn’t wish what happened to me on anyone.
If those sharing this video wish the same for themselves, I wish them luck.
Families Should Stay Off-Limits
