Babcock University Expels Student Over Misconducts

Babcock University, located in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, has officially dismissed a student, Oladipupo Siwajuola on June 4, 2025, following a thorough investigation that uncovered his involvement in serious violations of university regulations.

The offenses include engagement in fetish practices, drug peddling, impersonation, dishonesty, unauthorized sale of personal property, and an unauthorized exit from campus.

The case gained public attention in early May 2025 when Siwajuola’s mother accused the university of negligence after he went missing from campus.

The university swiftly responded to allegations on June 4, 2025, with an official statement from Dr. Joshua Suleiman, Director of Marketing and Communication.

According to the university report, Siwajuola deliberately left the campus on April 28, 2025, without permission.

He disguised himself in a hoodie and exited through the gate of the university’s teaching hospital, an act that was neither accidental nor due to any lapse on the university’s part.

The institution emphasized that his disappearance was a willful breach of the Babcock University Student Handbook and university policies.

Siwajuola Was Located And Brought Back To Campus

Upon return, he was formally debriefed by the university’s Security Services Department.

In a voluntary written statement, which was later corroborated during a disciplinary hearing, Siwajuola confessed to multiple acts of misconduct.

Among the revelations was his admission of purchasing a black soap from a traditional herbalist for ₦100,000.

This purchase contradicted his mother’s earlier public claim that the soap was given to him for treating a skin condition.

Instead, Siwajuola disclosed that the soap was intended for ritualistic purposes linked to a ‘Yahoo Yahoo.

Plus’ scheme, a term used in Nigeria to describe internet fraud combined with fetish practices aimed at quick wealth accumulation.

Further confessions included involvement in drug peddling and borrowing N500,000 from an online loan application to fund gambling activities.

Siwajuola admitted impersonating another student to open a bank account and selling his phone without authorization, misleading the buyer about parental consent.

The University Clarified Misinformation

The university also clarified misinformation surrounding Siwajuola’s discovery.

Contrary to his mother’s claim that secondary school friends found him.

A friend’s mother in Lagos identified Siwajuola’s presence and alerted his family, prompted by widespread social media attention.

Following an internal investigation, Babcock University found Siwajuola guilty of multiple offenses.

Including unauthorized campus exit, possession and use of fetish materials, drug peddling, impersonation, dishonesty, and unauthorized sale of personal property.

In line with its disciplinary code and global best practices, the university had no alternative but to expel him with immediate effect.

Legal Action

Dr. Joshua Suleiman acknowledged the decision’s emotional difficulty but emphasized the university’s duty to ensure safety and uphold student moral integrity.

He stated, “While we recognize the emotional weight of this decision.

Especially for the family involved, our foremost responsibility remains the safety and moral integrity of all students entrusted to our care.”

The university condemned the “sensational and baseless accusations” Siwajuola’s mother made on social media, accusing the institution of complicity in her son’s disappearance.

The university described these claims as false and misleading but noted that due to the responsible conduct of Siwajuola’s father.

It would not pursue legal action for libel at this time.
