The Akwa Ibom North West (Ikot Ekpene) Senatorial District witnessed a powerful surge of youth energy and engagement as Comr. Patience Nnyenime, the National Director of Humanitarian Affairs of the National Association of Nigerian Students and Coordinator of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Students, convened a Students Thank You and Empowerment Convergence that has drawn wide commendation across Akwa Ibom State and beyond.

The gathering was initially organised to express profound appreciation to students for their unity, commitment, and massive mobilisation during the historic NANS Iconic Walk held in honour of the President of the Senate, His Excellency Sen. Dr. Godswill Obot Akpabio. What began as a meeting of gratitude swiftly transformed into a significant platform for empowerment, political awareness, and a renewed commitment to leadership and national development.

A major highlight was the formal presentation of a symbolic ballot box, representing the collective voice and political consciousness of the district’s students. This act signified the students’ firm support for His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Sen. Dr. Godswill Akpabio, President of the Senate, and His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno, Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, reflecting confidence in the Renewed Hope and Uncommon Transformation agendas.

The event attracted a host of notable personalities and student leaders, including Engr. Nsisuk Ekanem, Comr. Tenyo Dipho, National Vice President of NANS, Comr. Jessy Chinedu, Immediate Past NANS Secretary South East, and Hon. Etienyene Offongekpe, a respected former student leader. Also in attendance were Worldwide Presidents from various Local Governments, SUG Presidents, leaders of the CPC Iconic Walk, NAUS, NIDSUG, and other influential union stakeholders.

In line with her passion for inclusive leadership, Comr. Patience Nnyenime empowered several students and presented awards of recognition to individuals who have shown unwavering dedication to the student movement. Among those honoured were Leader Michael Ibanga, recognised for his leadership as CPC Chairman, Pastor Uko Michael, and other committed student advocates whose contributions have strengthened unity and collective action across the district.

Beyond student affairs, Comr. Patience Nnyenime has remained steadfast in humanitarian service. Through initiatives such as The Hood’s Initiative, she has provided relief and support to vulnerable groups, reinforcing her belief that leadership must translate into tangible impact and community upliftment.

The Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Students Empowerment Convergence stands as a testament to visionary leadership, unity of purpose, and youth-driven progress. It was not merely a meeting, but a definitive statement of direction. Comr. Patience Nnyenime continues to inspire, mobilise, and lead with clarity, compassion, and conviction.
