Just weeks after President Trump labeled Nigeria a “disgraced” nation, reality on the ground brutally validates his words as terror strikes on November 18, 2025 – Eruku, Kwara State, Nigeria.
Tragically, on November 18, gunmen stormed the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State, killing three worshippers, injuring others, and abducting the pastor along with several congregants.
This latest terror attack, unfolding during a live-streamed church service, paints a chilling picture of a country engulfed by violence, and yet consumed by toxic internal politics instead of unity.
The Brutal Attack That Shattered a Community
The serene Sunday service turned into carnage in seconds.
Reports confirm gunmen, identified by locals as Fulani Islamist extremists, opened fire inside the church, terror strikes down innocent worshippers.
Two victims died instantly, one inside the church and another found later in the bush.
The abduction of the pastor and several church members remains a deep scar on the community’s psyche.
Despite the swift response from local police and vigilantes.
The attackers escaped through nearby forest paths, fuelled by weak border patrols and law enforcement.
A Nation Distracted While Terror Prevails
While communities mourn and fear escalation, politicians squabble on national stages.
Crises within the PDP, Labour Party, SDP, and other formations appear increasingly orchestrated, intended to fray democratic threads.
This discord plays right into the hands of those who seek chaos, weakening opposition and distracting from critical security failures.
A Grim Echo from the Past
The political divisiveness starkly contrasts with President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s commitment during his tenure.
When he insisted that political party stability was essential for democracy across the board.
Yar’Adua’s government recognized that democracy isn’t just about the ruling party but ensuring all voices operate within the law, strengthening governance and peace.
Today, this wisdom is ignored, fractures widen, opposition parties struggle under pressure, and Nigeria’s fragile democracy erodes.
Democracy Under Siege
In robust democracies, the opposition thrives; elections are fair, and governance is inclusive.
Nigeria’s current reality diverges starkly from these principles.
Political suppression and engineered instability fragment parties, leaving citizens more vulnerable to insecurity and mistrust.
Terror Strikes, increasing banditry, kidnappings, and killings in places like Kwara are symptoms of a much deeper malaise, a government distracted from its primary duty of protection.
The Human Toll and the Call for Unity
Behind every headline are lives shattered, families mourning lost loved ones, communities living in fear, and futures stolen by violence that refuses to relent.
As Nigerians grapple with these tragedies, one truth emerges: only united action and responsible leadership can restore hope.
The Way Forward: Urgent Reforms Required
Peace demands more than speeches.
The current government must abandon divisive tactics.
Instead, embrace inclusivity and support all parties to function peacefully within Nigeria’s constitutional democracy.
Can Nigeria Rise?
Terror Strikes, attack in Eruku is a grim symbol of what Nigeria faces: a dangerous crossroads between chaos and order, division and unity.
Will the nation respond with resilience, or will political distractions continue to fuel insecurity?
Nigerians deserve leaders who prioritize life over power plays, a country united against terror, not divided by it.

Am no longer seeing the politicians as the problem of Nigeria.
Rather Nigerian problem is the uniform people.
People has identified their problem but the uniform people are always used to surpress the people.
no freedom of speech, no peaceful demonstration. People can’t hold their leaders for accountability because, the will order the force to shoot.
and the force will cowardly shoot forgetting that karma is real.
