The Director of Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Dr. Sam Amadi, has sound a note of warning to all Nigerians not to place confidence in the deployment of technology by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to reports, Dr. Sam Amadi stated this on Sunday during the Citizens Town Hall Meeting on the Electoral Act 2026 held in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Call for Bipartisan Commission to Audit INEC Technology
He said there should be a bipartisan audit commission to review INEC’s technology thoroughly.
This ensures transparency, fairness, and trust in Nigeria’s electoral processes for all.
Experts from both major parties would scrutinise systems, identifying flaws and recommending upgrades promptly.
Public involvement adds credibility, preventing partisan manipulations or undue influences effectively.
Such reforms strengthen democracy, boosting voter confidence and reducing disputes over election outcomes.
2023 Election Marred by Allegations, Issues – Speaker
According to him, “We finished the 2023 election with so much allegations, so much issues.
“The National Assembly did not conduct one public hearing; nobody was put on oath, neither Mahmood nor all the officers, to tell us what happened. That is shambolic
“Nobody should place confidence on INEC deployment of technology.”
Meanwhile, Sam Amadi has shared his thoughts on why former Inspector-General Kayode Egbetokun was removed.
His insights reveal key factors behind the sudden leadership change.
Egbetokun faced mounting pressures from unresolved controversies and performance shortfalls in policing.
Sam Amadi highlights internal dynamics and public demands driving the decision.
This development signals the administration’s push for effective, scandal-free security leadership nationwide.
Amadi’s Views Ignite Urgent Nigeria Police Reform Debate
Amadi’s views spark debate on reforming Nigeria’s police institution urgently.
He stated that Egbetokun was surrounded by too much controversy and not bringing enough value.
Ongoing scandals erode public trust in leadership and governance daily.
The incumbent administration deserves performers who deliver results without constant damaging headlines.
Egbetokun’s baggage hinders progress, distracting from key national priorities and reforms.
Replacing him with competent, controversy-free talent would boost efficiency and restore credibility swiftly.
Critics demand swift action to refocus on delivering tangible value now.
According to him, when people in such exalted offices become a burden, they are thrown away.
Hiring Based on Reality, Not Sentiment – Guest
Speaking during an appearance on Arise News, he argued that hiring decisions were made on the basis of reality.
He said, “I think in making some changes, I suggest two things. One, maybe he wants to increase the performance opportunity, the performance of the security.
Again, the kind of presidents we have is that oftentimes hiring decisions are made on the basis of reality, maybe projections of the next election.
And so it’s just like a football team, you see coaches substitute players to get guys who probably deliver.
“So in a sense, it could be operational, and again, the insecurity, the level of criminality, and of course, the now former IG we presume, had a lot of controversies.
“What happens with the presidency is that when you are a burden and the value addition is not that much, whether politically or in terms of performance of the government, you’re likely going to be thrown away sooner or later.
“So presidents retain the capacity to reimagine and in doing that, those who don’t have strong political, maybe anchor, and who are not officially very useful get cut off.”
