The lawmaker standing in for Ado, Okpokwu, and Ogbadibo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Philip Agbese, has trivialized the political crisis presently emerging in Rivers State, describing the situation as manageable and not a cause for alarm.

Agbese’s remarks come surrounded by heightened political tension in the state, following the Rivers State House of Assembly’s decision to initiate impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara, indicting him of gross misconduct, including alleged financial misappropriation.

Agbese Addresses Fubara Impeachment Saga with Press

Speaking during an appearance with press men on Thursday, Agbese addressed the emerging impeachment saga.

Agbese further stressed the need for measured responses to recent assembly actions.

He warned against exaggerating developments that could spiral into unnecessary chaos.

Such overreactions risk sabotaging governance in the economically vital oil-rich state.

Instead, focus on steady leadership to protect Rivers residents’ interests and stability.

Agbese traced Rivers’ turmoil partly to a messy political transition rocking the state.

Governor Fubara and several House members recently ditched the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

They jumped ship to the All Progressives Congress (APC), fracturing old alliances overnight.

This defection wave ignited loyalties clash, birthing the assembly’s aggressive impeachment push.

Agbese said, “The situation is manageable. It’s partly a product of a political transition.

Many of the tensions are fragments of old political practices and cultures carried over from the former party, rather than a representation of the values of the APC.”

Lawmaker Agbese: APC Exemplifies Top Organization

The lawmaker, who also serves as the Deputy Spokesman of the House of Representatives, highlighted that the APC embodies exemplary organisation.

Leaders face a powerful obligation to deliver peace and tranquillity in Rivers State.

They must prioritize seamless executive-legislative synergy to drive effective governance.

National examples clearly illustrate this model’s success, offering a proven path forward.

Adopting it locally would heal divisions, unlocking progress for Rivers’ long-suffering residents.

He stressed the need for political actors in Rivers State to set aside  old rivalries and adopt the precepts of the APC, which he described as centred on collaboration, stability, and effective governance.

“It is essential that all political actors hand over enduring animosity from their past and wholeheartedly embrace the enlightened doctrines of the APC manifesto.

Agbese Issues Directive Amid Rivers Political Turmoil

Deputy Spokesman Agbese issued a pointed directive amid Rivers State’s escalating political turmoil.

He insisted that key players must adapt swiftly to rising challenges threatening stability.

Their goal: foster harmonious governance that truly serves Rivers State’s resilient people.

Agbese’s words underscore the human stakes, urging unity over endless factional strife.

Agbese Urges Tinubu to Resolve Rivers Crisis

In light of the unfolding political drama, Agbese also appealed directly to President Bola Tinubu to step in and help resolve the crisis before it escalates further.

“I earnestly implore Mr President to intervene expeditiously and shepherd all stakeholders toward enduring unity and prosperity.

Agbese delivered a resolute vow on Rivers State’s turbulent political landscape.

“Rivers State deserves, and shall attain, lasting peace,” he added with conviction.

His words reject perpetual crisis, promising a stable future for the oil-rich region.

This pledge spotlights hope amid strife, calling stakeholders to prioritize collective progress.
