The Humanitarian Affairs Directorate of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Tuesday joined students and staff of State College, Ikot Ekpene, in a dual celebration honouring the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, on his 63rd birthday and marking the graduation of the Class of 2025.
The visit, led by Comrade Patience Nnyenime, National Director of Humanitarian Affairs for the NANS Presidency, turned the school compound into a festive ground as students recounted the impactful contributions of the former governor to their institution and the state’s education sector.
According to Comrade Nnyenime, the delegation was warmly received by the school principal and management, who expressed deep appreciation for Senator Akpabio’s “contributions to the advancement of the college.”
“As a leader who prioritizes education and has a deep love for students, it was a pleasure to join them in celebrating his birthday,” Nnyenime stated.
During the event, students took centre stage, listing various interventions by the Senate President, with particular gratitude expressed for a modern classroom block he recently built and commissioned for the school.

The students noted that the facility has significantly improved their learning environment.
In a symbolic gesture of support, the NANS delegation donated exercise books to the school’s Choral team, encouraging their artistic and academic pursuits.
Comrade Nnyenime described Senator Akpabio as “an educational icon,” praising his sustained commitment to infrastructure and policy development in the sector.

She concluded with prayers for his well-being, stating, “We pray that posterity will be kind to His Excellency and that God will continue to bless him abundantly.”
