Anti-riot police sergeant in uniform on Thursday morning commits suicide after he shot dead his suspected woman friend in a school premises in Ilorin, Kwara state capital.
According to reports, the unfortunate incident occurred around 8:00am.

The gory incident happened at the premises of the Chapel of Redemption, UMCA, Agba Dam Housing Estate, Gaa Akanbi, Ilorin.
A place where Redemption Model Nursery and Primary School is located.
The State Police Command said the deceased policeman served attached to the Kwara State Government House, Ilorin, as a security aide.
Residents and shop owners around the school told our correspondent about the officer’s suspicious behavior beforehand.
Witnesses said the police officer trailed his deceased female friend around the premises for some time.
Witnesses also said he visited the deceased’s family house at Erin Ile Road, Gaa Akanbi.
This happened a few days before he allegedly attacked her there with a cutlass weapon.
Apparently because of misunderstanding between the two.
Witnesses also gathered that the deceased MOPOL sergeant entered the school premises a few minutes before 8:00.
Onlookers saw the Police sergeant enter the premises in his brand new Toyota Corolla car, arriving first.
His female friend came later, bringing her daughter to the school where the incident later unfolded.

Residents identified the deceased mother of one simply as Tosin.
Witnesses said the police officer brought out his AK-47 rifle and shot Tosin in the chest.
He fired three times, and the woman died on the spot instantly after the fatal shots.
He aimed at his throat, then used his leg to pull the trigger, blowing off his head.
Spokesperson Ajayi Okasanmi said love gone sour between them caused the incident.
He clarified that it has nothing to do with police brutality or any operational misconduct by officers.
“At about 08:05 hours of March 2, 2023, information reached the command that a man in police uniform later identified by his uniform and name tag as F/NO 497093.

“Immediately after the information got to the command, the Commissioner of Police for Kwara State, CP Paul Odama, PSC, dispatched a team of policemen and detectives to the scene.”
Police dispatched to the scene recovered the corpses and took them for medical examination and processing.
Police deposited the bodies at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, where doctors officially certified them dead.
“The command wishes to state clearly that the deadly incident was an aftermath of love gone sour and that it has nothing to do with police brutality.
“Meanwhile, investigation of this unfortunate incident is in progress, and the report of the investigation will be made public as soon as it is ready.”
