The United States President Trump has ordered the country to withdraw from 66 international organisations.

According to reports, the order was issued on Wednesday through a Presidential Memorandum signed on January 7, 2026, follow by the fact sheet released by the White House.

The document stated that the affected organisations no longer serve the interests of the United States of America.

Trump Administration Declares 66 UN Bodies Serve No US Interests

A pivotal executive directive asserts that the targeted organizations, 35 non-UN bodies and 31 UN-linked agencies, no longer advance United States interests.

Federal departments received firm instructions to cease all participation and funding immediately.

This policy shift prioritizes American taxpayers by redirecting resources from international entities viewed as misaligned with national priorities.

The administration frames the action as essential fiscal discipline.

The declaration underscores broader efforts to reclaim sovereignty, ensuring public funds support domestic needs over global agendas.

FG Orders Halt to Funding for 66 UN-Related Bodies

Therefore, under the directive, all federal departments and agencies have been advice to stop participating and funding 35 non-United Nations bodies and the 31 agencies linked to the United Nations.

The administration also said that these organisations work against security, economic growth, sovereignty, and  national interests of the United States

The decision followed a wide review carried out earlier in the year.

The review covered every international organisation, agreement, and treaty that the United States belongs to or supports financially.

White House Halts Funds to Globalist Institutions Overriding American Priorities

The White House explained that the aim is to stop using public funds on institutions that place their global goals above the needs of United State of Americans.

It said many of the bodies focus on global programmes that do not align with the US priorities or fail to deliver results despite heavy funding from the US.

According to the administration, billions of dollars have been spent on these organisations over the years, yet the benefits to the United States remain very low.

It added that some of the groups often criticise US policies or push ideas that contradict with the US economic values and goals.

Trump Administration Defends Funding Cuts to Safeguard US Independence

The move was further described as part of an effort to protect US independence.

The White House said the president is determined to end involvement in organisations it believes weaken national decision-making or waste public funds.

The administration accused several of the affected bodies of promoting policies related to climate.

The global governance, and social programs that it says conflict with US sovereignty and economic strength.

The US officials said leaving these organisations will save money and enable the government to redirect resources to domestic needs.

These include infrastructure development, military readiness, border security, and protecting American companies from unfair foreign rules.

Trump’s Latest Withdrawals Follow Return to Presidency

This latest action follows other withdrawals since President Trump returned to office.

Shortly after his return, the United States exited the World Health Organization and the Paris Climate Agreement.

Trump Blocks OECD Global Tax Deal on Day One

President Donald Trump took decisive action on his first day back in the Oval Office, blocking the global tax deal spearheaded by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

He declared the agreement carries no legal effect within the United States, prioritizing American sovereignty over international fiscal frameworks.

This move aligns with Trump’s “America First” agenda, rejecting multilateral tax arrangements that could limit U.S. revenue autonomy and corporate competitiveness.

The OECD’s two-pillar solution aimed to combat profit-shifting by multinationals, but Trump dismissed it as infringing on domestic policy control.

Trump Approves US Withdrawal from UN Human Rights Council, Cuts Palestinian Refugee Funding

Weeks after his inauguration, President Donald Trump authorized the United States’ withdrawal from the United Nations Human Rights Council.

This decision reflects ongoing criticism of the council as biased against Israel and ineffective in addressing global abuses.

President Trump simultaneously halted all future funding to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
