President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has on Thursday held a close door meeting with key stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, to takle preparations for the party’s forthcoming convention and congresses.
According to source, the meeting brought to the villa all the members of the APC’s national leadership, governors, and the party’s caucus together in the National Assembly.
Names of those presence at the meeting:
- Senate President: Godswill Akpabio attended the key APC meeting.
- NGF Chairman: AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Kwara State Governor and Nigerian Governors Forum Chairman, was present.
- PGF Chairman: Hope Uzodimma, Imo State Governor and Progressive Governors Forum Chairman, joined the discussions.
- Deputy Senate President: Barau Jibrin represented the Senate’s deputy leadership.
- House Majority Leader: Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, participated.
- Other Key Figures: Usman Bello Kumo (Chief Whip), Femi Gbajabiamila (Chief of Staff), and APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Bashiru attended.
APC Chairman Yilwatda Hails Brief, Productive Post-Meeting Session
Speaking after the meeting, APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda described it as a brief but productive session.
The focus was aligning the party’s preparations and ensuring cohesion among all arms of government.
According to him, the meeting’s agenda centered on strengthening synergy.
It involved national leadership, sub-national governments, the National Assembly, and party structure ahead of the convention and congresses.
“We want everyone in the national, sub-national and the National Assembly to be on the same page, and I believe we achieved shared our objectives,” Yilwatda said.
APC Sees Rapid Expansion with New Members Influx
He noted that the APC is undergoing rapid expansion with an influx of new members.
Governors and lawmakers stressed the need for inclusivity as the party continues to grow.
Yilwatda praised President Tinubu’s leadership.
He acknowledged Tinubu as a highly experienced politician whose guidance has been instrumental to the party’s growth and strategic direction.
“Mr President is a very experienced politician.
His advice was remarkable.
His depth of knowledge of the political cycle continues to drive the party’s expansion and strength,” he said.
