Former Flying Eagles midfielder Daniel Daga has been suspended by his Norwegian club, Molde FK, amid serious allegations.

He now faces a police investigation over an alleged sexual assault, prompting swift action from the team.

Club Confirms Suspension to Enable Unbiased Police Inquiry

Club officials confirmed the suspension, stating it allows authorities to conduct a thorough and unbiased inquiry into the matter.

Daga remains cooperative with investigators while the club prioritizes integrity and support for all involved parties.

The club confirmed the development in an official statement on Friday, noting that the alleged incident was first reported to the police in late April 2025.

Daga Charged with Sexual Act Without Consent Under Norwegian Penal Code Section 297

Daga has been formally charged with committing a sexual act without consent, an offence under Section 297 of the Norwegian Penal Code.

Legal proceedings are expected to take place in March 2026 at the Nordmøre and Romsdal District Court.

Molde FK has officially stated that both the player and the club have cooperated fully with Norwegian police.

This cooperation spans the entire investigation process, ensuring transparency and adherence to legal protocols from the outset.

Club representatives emphasized their commitment to supporting law enforcement while maintaining internal disciplinary measures.

Club Reaffirms Full Disclosure and Accountability as Case Advances

They reaffirmed that full disclosure and accountability remain priorities as the case progresses through official channels.

A source at the player’s former club in Nigeria also confirmed the development.

Before his suspension, Daga last featured for Molde on November 24 in a 2-1 away win against Strømsgodset.

Following notification of the indictment, officials immediately barred the midfielder from all training sessions with the team.

Club officials also prohibit him from participating in any match activities for the foreseeable future pending resolution.

Precautionary Suspension Shields Club Focus Amid Legal Proceedings

This precautionary measure ensures focus on the legal proceedings without distracting from club operations or team performance.

Club management views it as essential for upholding standards of conduct and respect for ongoing investigations.

He has played 15 games for the club this year across all competitions, scoring two league goals.

Daga completed his move to the Norwegian Eliteserien side from FC ONE Rocket in January, signing a three-year contract.

Midfielder Features for Nigeria at FIFA U-20 World Cup in October for Second Time

In October, he proudly featured for Nigeria at the FIFA U-20 World Cup for the second time.

Representing the Flying Eagles, he showcased his skills on the international stage against top young talents.

Argentina knocked out the team 4-0 in the round of 16, despite their advancement.

Despite the defeat, his participation highlighted his growing prominence in Nigerian youth international football.
