    GLOBAL: US Exist International Organizations

In a decision sending tremors through global diplomacy, United States President Donald Trump has formally withdrawn Washington from 66 international organizations, marking one of the most radical foreign policy shifts in modern history.

The move was sealed on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, when President Trump signed an executive order pulling the U.S. out of 31 United Nations affiliated institutions and 35 independent global bodies, citing that they “no longer serve American interests.”

The announcement, posted by the White House on X, reaffirms Trump’s hardline “America First” doctrine, now fully re-entrenched following his return to the Oval Office.

This is not reform, this is rupture.

     CLIMATE DIPLOMACY SHATTERED

Among the most consequential exits is the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) the world’s leading authority on climate science.

Even more stunning, the U.S. has withdrawn for the first time ever from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

The backbone of global climate negotiations and the legal framework behind the Paris Agreement and all COP climate summits since 1992.

    Also affected:

    International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)

Multiple environmental and sustainability organizations bodies.

This single act effectively removes the world’s largest economy from the global climate governance table, rewriting the rules of engagement overnight.

UNESCO, WHO, UNCTAD , ALL ABANDONED

The Trump administration has also exited:

UNESCO  despite rejoining under President Joe Biden.

World Health Organization (WHO)  a cornerstone of global health coordination.

UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) long championed by Global South nations Organizations.

These withdrawals signal a clear pivot away from multilateralism, especially institutions seen as amplifying developing-world influence.

FOREIGN AID SLASHED: HUMANITARIAN SYSTEMS AT RISK

In parallel, Washington announced a drastic reduction in foreign aid, terminating support for major humanitarian agencies, including.

    World Food Programme (WFP)

UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)

This follows earlier moves such as the closure of USAID, effectively ending decades of U.S. led global development assistance.

For millions dependent on aid, the implications are immediate ,and dire.

     THE STRATEGY BEHIND THE STORM

These actions flow directly from the National Security Strategy (NSS) released on December 5, 2025, which places absolute priority on:

    American sovereignty, Western Hemisphere dominance.

    Reduced global entanglements.

Trump has repeatedly accused institutions like the United Nations and NATO of failing U.S. strategic interests, and this executive order transforms rhetoric into irreversible action.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR THE WORLD

    Let’s be blunt:

    Global climate coordination is weakened.

    Humanitarian funding faces collapse.

Multilateral diplomacy enters a new era of uncertainty.

Power blocs may realign without U.S. leadership.

This is the United States stepping back from referee and daring the world to adjust.

    History will debate the wisdom.

Markets, diplomats, and vulnerable nations will feel the impact now.
