Dickson Iroegbu, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and vocal figure within the Obidient Movement, has issued a clarion call to opposition politicians across Nigeria to unite and put an end to the ongoing administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

His appeal, made during an interview programme session on Friday, comes amid growing concerns about the state of the nation and the political trajectory of the ruling party.

A Dire Warning: APC’s Impact on Nigerians

In interview, Iroegbu bluntly accused APC of failing Nigerians, deepening poverty and hardship instead of delivering progress.

He alleged APC rule drove over 50 million Nigerians into extreme poverty, alarming and unacceptable, he stressed.

“The APC has led 50 million Nigerians into extreme poverty since they came into power.

They are standing on a falling mandate,” Iroegbu stated emphatically.

He argued that the ruling party’s policies and actions have further marginalized ordinary Nigerians, eroding hope and threatening the very fabric of the nation.

    A Call for Opposition Unity

Iroegbu’s central message was a rallying cry for unity among all opposition forces, regardless of their political backgrounds or affiliations.

As PDP member and Obidient Movement affiliate tied to Peter Obi supporters, he draws dual perspective.

He called for a realignment of political interests in order to form a formidable challenge to the APC in 2027.

“We must converge, realign, unite against common enemy, corruption will kill us if we don’t kill it,” Iroegbu urged, quoting Buhari.

In the same way, if we don’t end APC in 2027, APC may end Nigeria and indeed Nigerians,” Iroegbu cautioned.

He likened politics to a battleground, stakes not just power but Nigeria’s survival and prosperity.

“2027 pits Nigerians against impoverishing elites,” Iroegbu declared, warning opposition disunity risks disastrous APC continued rule.

Kano’s Political Dynamics as a Microcosm

Responding to the recent political developments in Kano State, Iroegbu highlighted the importance of the state in the broader political context of Northern Nigeria.

“Kano, my birth state, reveals Northern Nigeria politics,” he remarked, noting its historic bellwether role in national elections.

Kano reflects broader Northern, national political discontent and realignment pattern, he suggested.

Kano’s political turbulence warns of major voter sentiment shifts ahead of 2027 elections, Iroegbu says.

Elites vs. The People: A Tipping Point

Framing the 2027 elections as a battle between the people and the entrenched elite, Iroegbu expressed confidence that the APC would face a rude awakening.

“APC will be shocked: 2027 pits impoverished Nigerians against elites,” he asserted, casting opposition as disenfranchised majority’s voice.

The Road to 2027: Realignment, Strategy, and Hope

Iroegbu’s appeal echoes growing view: only diverse coalition of parties, movements, civil society can credibly challenge APC dominance.

Nigeria grapples with economic hardship, uncertainty; unity calls, strategic realignment, people-centered governance will shape pre-2027 election discourse.

As 2027 elections near, will opposition heed Iroegbu, unite, overcome differences, and offer vision halting poverty, restoring hope?
