The Akwa Ibom State High Court in Uyo sentenced 51-year-old Jimmy Ama on child abuse charges.

Justice Winifred Effiong presided over the case, delivering a landmark ruling after reviewing compelling evidence.

Ama’s conviction stemmed from brutal assaults on his daughters, including beatings with a car fan belt.

The court highlighted the premeditated nature of the violence and his attempt to destroy evidence by dumping it in a pit toilet.

This sentencing reinforces Nigeria’s push against domestic violence and child maltreatment.

Rights groups praised the verdict, urging stricter enforcement to protect vulnerable families across the region.

The particulars of the case recalled that the incident occurred in 2015, “when Ama repeatedly molested his daughters, aged 13 and 16, by having carnal knowledge of them severally.”
