    Suspected gunmen have once again attacked a Celestial Church in Uso, in the Owo council area of Ondo State, and abducted six worshippers during early morning service.

    An eyewitness told Wahalaupdate that the gunmen invaded the church premises  during an early morning worship and whisked the victims away to an unknown destination.

    A source revealed a dramatic twist in the ordeal.

    Abductor Escapes Own Captors in Daring Twist

    One of the abductors managed a narrow escape from his own captors right after the horrific incident unfolded.

    The “ugly” attack left chaos in its wake. This unexpected defection highlights the internal tensions even among criminals involved.

    Details remain sketchy, but the escapee could provide key insights.

    Investigations may intensify as authorities track this development.

    Families of the victims said that the kidnappers are yet to reach out to them to state their demands.

    Police Spokesperson DSP Abayomi Confirms Incident

    The state police spokesperson, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, was contacted for clarity.

    He promptly confirmed the disturbing incident had indeed taken place.

    This official acknowledgment lends credibility to eyewitness accounts.

    It signals that authorities are now actively engaging with the unfolding events.

    Abayomi: Kidnapping Hit Early Feb 25, 2026

    Abayomi said that the “kidnapping incident occurred in the early hours of 25th February 2026.”

    He stated, “At approximately 12:50 a.m., six worshippers at a Celestial Church located along the Uso/Owo Motorway in Uso.” .

    “Attackers reportedly took the victims to an unknown destination.”

    “Upon receiving the report, the operatives of the command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups, immediately mobilized to the scene and commenced coordinated rescue operations.”

    “Security forces rescued one kidnapped victim through sustained joint efforts.”

    “Additionally, Police arrested one suspected informant linked to the incident, he is currently assisting with ongoing investigations.”

    “Security operations are ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the remaining victims and the apprehension of all perpetrators involved.”

    Abayomi urged residents “to remain calm and vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible and actionable information that may assist ongoing operations.”
