The Akwa Ibom State Government, under the leadership of Governor Umo Eno, has formally adopted a Treasury Single Account (TSA) system for all state revenues, effective from today, January 1, 2026.
The announcement was made by the Governor during his New Year State-wide broadcast.
TSA Powers Akwa Ibom’s 2026 People’s Budget Pillar
The TSA policy is a central pillar of the state’s 2026 “People’s Budget of Consolidation and Expansion,” aimed at enhancing fiscal transparency and accountability.
Governor Eno declared Treasury Single Account live today, January 1st 2026, for all government revenue payments statewide.
He ended MDAs generating, spending outside TSA, new era demands full compliance and fiscal transparency now.
He emphasised strict compliance, directing all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to adhere to the implementation guidelines already issued.
The Governor added a stern warning: “I must also say that there will be consequences for defaulters.”
TSA Consolidates Spends, Plugs Leaks, Boosts Discipline
The Treasury Single Account consolidates all expenditures into one approved budget source, streamlining Akwa Ibom government’s financial operations efficiently.
It plugs revenue leakages effectively while strengthening fiscal discipline across state spending and accountability measures.
Governor Eno’s address outlined bold multi-sector plans, spotlighting agriculture’s Tree Crop Revolution for widespread farmer empowerment.
It targets all Local Government Areas, aiming to forge generational wealth and invigorate Akwa Ibom’s rural economy.
He further committed to intensifying rural development, promising to complete all ongoing projects under the ‘one-project-per-local-government’ initiative with strict accountability.
Eno: 1000km Roads Done, NEEDS Drive 2026 Projects
Governor Eno touted major infrastructure wins, revealing over 1,000 kilometers of roads completed or underway across Akwa Ibom.
New 2026 projects pull straight from community NEEDS Documents, ensuring people’s priorities shape state development directly.
He also extended gratitude to security agencies for maintaining peace, which he called the “first responsibility of government.”
Ukanafun Hospital Opens, 350-Bed Ibom Builds On
The commissioned Ukanafun General Hospital, and the ongoing construction of the 350-bed Ibom International Hospital.
He reaffirmed that “compassion remains central to our governance blueprint,” citing the delivery of 335 ARISE Compassionate Homes and the reduction of the inherited gratuity backlog by over ₦76.6 billion.
The administration’s economic diversification drive through tourism also featured prominently.
Eno: Airport Flights April, Seaport On Track
Governor Eno voiced strong optimism for Victor Attah International Airport’s upgraded international operations launching by April 2026.
He confirmed Ibom Deep Seaport project stays firmly on course, boosting Akwa Ibom’s trade ambitions.
Governor Eno urged political unity ahead of electioneering, imploring leaders and citizens to prioritize harmony over conflict.
He called to reject violence, division, embrace ideas-driven politics focused on the common good for all.
