Mrs. Obot Travels for Ward Congresses
Mrs. Obot traveled specifically to participate in the upcoming ward congresses.
Her presence underscores resolve to influence outcomes and promote consultative party leadership effectively.
She said reports from Etinan disturb her: Several senior party figures lack consultation in the build-up to the exercises.
“In Etinan Local Government Area, there is a clear lack of consultation with respected party chieftains and elder statesmen who have worked tirelessly to build this party,” she said.
“These are individuals who have invested their time, resources and influence in strengthening our structures at the grassroots.”
“They deserve right recognition. Allow them adequate opportunity to exercise patience within an inclusive process.”
Mrs. Obot Urges Inclusive APC Harmonisation Process
Mrs. Obot, who is from Etinan Urban Ward 3, stressed that the harmonisation process should represent inclusion and experience in order to prevent unnecessary grievances.
“When experienced hands are sidelined, it creates room for misunderstanding.
Consultation is not a favour; it is a responsibility,” she stated.
“And it is not just Etinan. There are similar concerns in other local government areas across the state where leaders believe wider engagement would strengthen unity.”
Mrs. Obot Cites Lagos APC Cohesion Model
“Where party chieftains and elder statesmen are properly recognised because of the trust reposed in them by their supporters, unity is easier to maintain,” she added.
She referenced Governor Umo Eno’s key action in early January 2026 with precision.
The Akwa Ibom State leader took a bold step to advance party processes.
He inaugurated the APC congress implementation committee amid high expectations statewide.
This move aimed to streamline preparations for ward and local government congresses smoothly.
Mrs. Obot Praises Start, Flags Consultation Gaps
Mrs. Obot highlighted this as a positive start but stressed consultation gaps.
When he charged members to consult widely with party leaders across the state ahead of the congresses.
“The directive was clear, there should be wide consultation.
That instruction should be honoured in the conduct of these congresses,” she said.
Mrs. Obot further notes that similar concerns arise in other local government areas.
Consultation gaps appear starkest in specific local scenarios across Akwa Ibom.
Defections Demand Inclusive APC Loyalty Strategies
Defections reshape alliances, demanding inclusive strategies to build lasting loyalty and momentum.
Local government chairmen who won under PDP platforms switched to APC last year.
These high-profile moves altered power balances, sparking debates on true commitment.
Particularly in those PDP-turned-APC hotspots, elders feel sidelined now.
Mrs. Obot pushes for dialogue to integrate defectors while honoring veteran chieftains’ foundational roles.
“In some of these areas, stakeholders are asking questions about how integration and consultation are being handled,” she said.
“These are sensitive matters that call for patience, fairness and proper recognition of established party leaders.”
