    Ahead of Saturday’s Area Council election polls, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun has ordered the redeployment of Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

    According to FCT Commissioner of Police (CP), Miller Dantawaye, he disclosed and confirmed that the redeployment has been carried out.

    Dantawaye stated that this proactive measure belongs to a broad security plan for the upcoming election polls.

    DPO Redeployments Boost FCT Poll Safety

    This comprehensive arrangement aims at strengthening operational effectiveness and ensuring safety across all council areas.

    The goal is, upholding high professionalism standards throughout the entire period of the FCT elections.

    FCT Police Public Relations Officer SP Josephine Adeh issued a statement.

    CP Miller Dantawaye, FCT Command Commissioner, acted on IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun’s directive.

    He redeployed and reshuffled Divisional Police Officers across the Federal Capital Territory.

    DPO Reshuffle Gears Up FCT for February 21 Council Elections

    This prepares for the FCT Area Council Elections on Saturday, February 21, 2026.

    The move ensures security and operational readiness ahead of the polls.

    Police aim to maintain peace during the electoral process.

    CP Miller Dantawaye, FCT Command Commissioner, complied with IGP’s directive.

    He charged reshuffled Divisional Police Officers with key responsibilities ahead of elections.

    Discharge duties with utmost professionalism, impartiality, and dedication, he urged.

    This ensures fair, secure conduct during the FCT Area Council polls.

    FCT Police Commissioner Commits to Electoral Security

    The Commissioner emphasized the Command’s strong commitment to safeguarding the entire electoral process and security.

    His goal is guaranteeing a completely free, fair, and credible election for all local citizens.

    Professional officers will work diligently to maintain peace before, during, and after the upcoming polls.

    The statement said, “The FCT Police Command urges all residents to remain peaceful, law abiding, and actively participate in the democratic process by exercising their civic responsibility on Election Day.

    FCT Police Command alerts the public to movement restrictions across the territory.

    The curfew starts 8:00 PM, February 20, 2026, until 6:00 PM, February 21.

    Exceptions apply to essential service providers and election officials only.

    This measure secures the FCT Area Council Elections on Saturday.

    “Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious persons or activities to the FCT Police Command through the following emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08061581938.”
