A fresh leadership dispute erupts in Zamfara State’s African Democratic Congress (ADC) chapter as rival camps clash fiercely over control ahead of key party primaries.
Contending factions accuse each other of irregularities, prompting threats of legal action and deepening divisions that could weaken ADC’s influence in the northwest region.
Mainasara, Gusau Rival Camps Claim Zamfara ADC Control
Two rival groups, one camp, led by Malam Mohammed Mainasara and the other, Kabiru Garba Gusau, are laying claim to the party’s structure following a contested congress.
The camp, led by Mainasara, announced via a statement that it was officially authorised by the party’s national leadership to organise and supervise the congress in the state.
Mainasara affirmed he chaired the committee tasked with conducting the crucial exercise.
Appointing Ambassador Zubairu Yalwa as secretary alongside other dedicated members.
The team oversaw primaries amid rising tensions in Zamfara ADC, aiming to resolve leadership disputes through transparent selection processes for party positions.
He noted that the committee carried out its assignment and facilitated the emergence of a new State Executive Committee (EXCO) through consensus backed by party stakeholders.

Hon. Gusau dismissed the process producing Zamfara ADC’s new leadership as completely invalid.
