The former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has officially appealed to Nigerians both at home and abroad to ensure their full participation during 2027.

He emphasized that active civic engagement remains essential for democratic progress, urging all eligible citizens to secure their votes and contribute meaningfully to the upcoming electoral process across Nigeria.

According to reports, Kwankwaso, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, made the appeal in a video via his official 𝕏 handle on Monday night.

The former Governor of Kano State urged Nigerians, especially the vibrant youth population.

To complete their voter registration with the Independent National Electoral Commission without any further unnecessary delay.

He emphasized that securing their voter cards now is crucial for ensuring their voices are heard during the forthcoming elections.

Which will determine the nation’s future political leadership direction.

He also urged Nigerians to register with the ADC as the coalition party prepares to unseat President Bola Tinubu.

He said, “Fellow Nigerians; It is time for every eligible Nigerian young and old, in the cities and in the villages, at home and in the diaspora to take two decisive steps:

“Register to vote with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) without delay.

“Register with the African Democratic Congress (ADC)”.

The factional leader of the African Democratic Congress, Nafi’u Bala Gombe, has firmly dismissed any dialogue with Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Labeling such discussions as entirely worthless for the North.

Gombe accused the former governor of failing to protect Northern interests when he held power.

Claiming his past political actions contributed significantly to the region’s current socio-economic challenges today.

Gombe made the remarks during an interview with Premier Radio in Kano, accusing Kwankwaso of failing to act in the interest of Northern Nigeria when he had the opportunity.

Gombe further accused Kwankwaso of actively contributing to various severe challenges currently bedevilling the North.

Stressing that the politician failed to improve the region despite holding significant executive power.

He specifically argued that Kwankwaso completely missed several critical opportunities to make a lasting difference in the North.

Ultimately leaving behind a controversial legacy for future generations to navigate.

He said, “Kwankwaso called me, telling me this is the solution for the North, a way out. I said no.

Any discussion concerning the North with people like you is rubbish.

“You were the same people the North was looking up to.

You had the opportunity to save it and make a difference, but you refused. It was you people that killed the North.”

Bala also alleged that Kwankwaso’s calculated decision to contest in the last general election significantly weakened the North politically.

Creating deep divisions within the region’s traditional voting bloc.

He specifically noted that having both Kwankwaso and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the race simultaneously fractured the regional support needed to secure a decisive electoral victory.
