Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Wards 5 and 6, Ukpom, Ikono Local Government Area, have unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, endorsing them for the 2027 general elections.

The landmark joint meeting, held over the weekend at the residence of Barr. Imo Effiong Akpan, Federal Commissioner, Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), brought together about 184 party stakeholders, former and current elected officials, signaling a united front and a robust grassroots mobilisation effort.

Convened by the Ward Chairman, Mr. Udongobong, in consultation with Ikono Local Government Council Chairman, Rt. Hon. Otobong Essien; Federal Commissioner, RMAFC, Barr. Imo Akpan; and former House of Representatives member, Rt. Hon. Engr. Iboro Ekanem, the meeting carried considerable political weight.

Prominent attendees included Hon. Barr. John John Akpan, immediate past Transition Vice Chairman of Ikono; Hon. (Dr.) David Akpan Ntuk, former Vice Chairman; and Hon. Nsikak Ntok, immediate past Leader of the Ikono Legislative Council.
Also present were sitting councillors, Special Advisers to the Governor on Community Development, and former councilors from the two Wards.

According to a communique issued at the end of the deliberations, the stakeholders commended President Tinubu’s “visionary leadership and transformative strides,” and moved a motion backing him for a second term to “consolidate the gains of his first term.”

They also expressed “profound appreciation” for Senate President Akpabio’s “legislative acumen and nationalistic vision,” endorsing his re-election and continuation as Senate President.

In the same vein, the gathering reaffirmed “unflinching support” for Governor Umo Eno.
They praised his “people-oriented policies, infrastructural development, and inclusive governance,” unanimously endorsing him for a second term to enable the “consolidation of his laudable achievements.”

The resolutions were formalised by a motion moved by Hon.Nsikak Ntok, seconded by Hon. Patricia Bassey, Councillor for Ukpom Ward 6, and co-seconded by Hon. Ndifreke Ibanga Essien, former Councillor for Ukpom Ward 5.

The stakeholders also made a clarion call for unity and mobilisation, urging all indigenes of Ukpom, both at home and in the diaspora, to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and prepare to vote en masse for the endorsed leaders in 2027.
