Chelsea have sacked head coach Liam Rosenior after a poor run of results, ending his brief spell at Stamford Bridge and forcing the club to search for stability.

Chelsea Football Club has terminated the appointment of head coach Liam Rosenior with immediate effect.

The decision ends a torrid four-month reign that culminated in a club-record equaling fifth consecutive Premier League defeat on Sunday.

The club confirmed the decision in a terse 47-word statement released on Tuesday, citing the need for a “change in direction” after the team’s alarming collapse down the league table.

Rosenior, 40, whom Chelsea hired last June as a shock replacement for Mauricio Pochettino, departs with the Blues sitting 11th in the Premier League.

The club collected just four points from a possible 24 since the start of September.

    ‘Unacceptable Run’

The final straw came during a lifeless 2-0 home loss to Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, the team’s fifth defeat on the bounce without scoring a single goal in open play.

An agitated club source told The Nation that dressing room unrest had been growing for three weeks, with senior players privately questioning Rosenior’s tactical setups and in-game management.

“The board backed him during the summer transfer window, but the results defy defense,” the source said.

“Five straight losses for a club of Chelsea’s stature is not a bad patch; it is a systemic failure.”

    From Hope to Heartbreak

Rosenior arrived with a reputation as one of English football’s bright young coaches after stabilizing Hull City last season.

He was tasked with implementing a high-pressing, youth-driven philosophy at Chelsea.

However, a brutal fixture list and a spate of injuries to key defenders exposed the team’s lack of structural coherence.

The 1-0 loss at Bournemouth, the 3-0 home humiliation by Brighton, and last week’s 2-1 collapse at Newcastle.

In the match, Chelsea surrendered a lead in stoppage time, proved to be the final nails in his coffin.

Rosenior admitted post-match, “I am failing to reach this group,” a remark that several board members reportedly viewed as a surrender of authority.

    What Next for Chelsea?

Former Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick and out-of-work ex-Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui have already been contacted by co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, according to sources close to the negotiations.

Chelsea’s next fixture is a daunting trip to Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night.

Under-21 coach Mark Robinson is expected to take interim charge for the remainder of the week.

Rosenior leaves Chelsea with a record of: Played 18, Won 5, Drawn 3, Lost 10.

His 27.7% win rate is the lowest of any permanent Chelsea manager since 1996.

In a brief personal statement issued through the League Managers’ Association, Rosenior said: “I gave everything to turn this around.”

“I have no doubt I will be a better coach for this experience. I wish Chelsea nothing but the best.”

Chelsea is currently searching for an 18th permanent head coach in the last 15 years has now begun.
