Chelsea Football Club has terminated the appointment of head coach Liam Rosenior with immediate effect.
The decision ends a torrid four-month reign that culminated in a club-record equaling fifth consecutive Premier League defeat on Sunday.
The club confirmed the decision in a terse 47-word statement released on Tuesday, citing the need for a “change in direction” after the team’s alarming collapse down the league table.
Rosenior, 40, who was hired last June as a shock replacement for Mauricio Pochettino, leaves with the Blues sitting 11th in the Premier League.
The club collected just four points from a possible 24 since the start of September.
